Concordia Academy-Bloomington Update for December 2, 2005
Vol. 6, No. 15

INTERNET SERVICE STILL INTERRUPTED
CA-Bloomington's Internet service has been down since early afternoon on November 21; both World Wide Web and email access have been unavailable to CA-Bloomington staff and students. This has affected the staff's ability to check email and post updates on their web pages. We hope that service will be restored early next week. Thank you for your continued patience.

NEXT SENIOR PARENT MEETING IS DECEMBER 5
Thanks to all that attended the senior party meeting on November 14. It was great to see so many parents at the meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for December 5 at 7:00 p.m. If you were not able to attend the first meeting, please feel free to come to this one and let your voice be heard. Please look in your email boxes soon; I will be sending the meeting notes out before the end of the week. If you have any questions, you can contact me at 952-884-3053. -John Venzke

LUNCH MENU UPDATE
There was an error on the menus that were recently sent home. Friday, December 9 IS a school day, not a half-day as indicated on the menu. Marilee Schneider will try to touch base with students who order lunch to find out if they wish to order a lunch for December 9.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT IS DECEMBER 18
Join band and choir members for "O Holy Night," the Fine Arts Christmas Celebration on Sunday, December 18, at 3:00 p.m. at CA-Bloomington. In addition to the music, artwork by art students will be on display. Following the concert, you're invited to enjoy homemade soups and sandwiches. Tickets for the meal are $5 per person or $20 per family, with profits supporting the spring choir tour. Their is no admission charge for the concert; a freewill offering will be taken.

BARNES & NOBLE FUNDRAISER IS DECEMBER 19
Mark your calendars! Once again this year, up to 25% of your purchases at the Galleria Barnes & Noble in Edina can go towards CA-Bloomington. Just shop there on December 19, and turn in the special voucher (available at www.lutheranhighschool.com/lhsevents/bookfair.cfm) when you check out. This is a great chance to take care of Christmas shopping and support CA-Bloomington at the same time. CA-Bloomington library volunteers will also be doing gift wrapping on the 19th, 2:00-10:00 p.m. Questions? Call the school at 952-854-0224.

THANK YOU!
Since late October, attendance at special admissions junior high events has been more than 300. Thanks to all students, staff, and parents that helped make the open house, Late Nite Bash, fall play matinee, and Lancer For A Day a huge success!

CANDY AND FRUITCAKE FOR SALE
Now is the time to purchase candy and fruitcake for the holiday season. The Sweet Delight Confections make great hostess gifts. The supply is running low on the Layered Mints and 2 lb. fruitcakes. Any student who does not have a class during 8th, 5th, or 1st hour does not have to arrive until the next final exam period. If a student does not have a 6th, 3rd, or 2nd hour class, they will be allowed to go home early. If a student has a study hall that falls between two finals, they will be required to report to that classroom for supervision during the testing period. STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE HALLWAYS DURING TESTING PERIODS.

FROM THE NURSE
Although this is the gift-giving season, you don't want to give someone a cold or flu. Please remember and reinforce at home to cover coughs and sneezes with your arm, not your hands. Also, wash your hands often. FYI: There have been two confirmed cases of mumps in Minnesota. Both people had contact with each other and were not immunized, perhaps due to their age (48 and 57). The MMR immunizes for mumps. -Trudi Woodard, RN HSA

LOST AND FOUND CHRISTMAS SHOW IS DECEMBER 10
Christian band Lost And Found will join with jugglers The Fitz Family, actor (and former LHS drama director) Justin Vetrano, singer Rachel Kurtz, and rapper David Scherer (AKA Agape) for the 7th Annual Lost And Found Christmas Show. It takes place on Saturday, December 10, at St. James Lutheran Church (6700 46th Place in Crystal). Admission is $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Children under age 7 are admitted free. Questions? Contact Troy at 651-287-8460 or visit www.speedwood.com.

MOMS IN TOUCH MOMENT
This past Wednesday, we prayed about "God is life." For our children, we prayed that they know that Jesus is the resurrection and the life. We prayed that they believe in Jesus and will live, even though they will die. They will live eternally with Jesus (John 11:25-26). If you have a moment, you might consider the same for your children. Any mom interested in joining our group is welcome. We meet at 9:00 am on Wednesday mornings in the conference room. -Debbie Heggemeier and Moms in Touch International
