Concordia Academy-Bloomington Update for November 23, 2005
Vol. 6, No. 12

NO SCHOOL NOVEMBER 24 AND 25; HALF DAY ON DECEMBER 2
IN celebration of Thanksgiving, there is no school on November 24 and 25. School resumes on November 28. Also, we will be on a morning-only schedule (noon dismissal) on December 2, to accommodate the Lancer For A Day junior high event in the afternoon.

INTERNET SERVICE INTERRUPTED
Due to a phone line problem, CA-Bloomington's Internet service has been down since early afternoon on November 20; both World Wide Web and email access have been unavailable. If you have tried to contact any school staff via email this week, they have probably not been able to receive your message.

PROGRESS REPORTS ARE COMING
Students received mid-quarter progress reports in advisory meetings on Tuesday. Watch for copies to arrive in your mailboxes later this week.

PLANNED ABSENCE REMINDER
Please remember that pre-excused absence forms are to be filled out one week prior to the student absence. This helps teachers, students, and staff to plan properly. Complete proceedures and policy details can be found on page 6 of the Parent/Student Handbook.

FRUITCAKE AND CANDY FOR SALE
Now that the Sweet Delight Confections, both candy and fruitcake, are made, it is time to sell these products. Are you interesting in buying candy and/or fruitcake for the Thanksgiving holiday? If so, please contact Marilee in the school office or call Debbie Heggemeier at 952-844-0128. Prices are as follows: 1 lb. Fruitcake is $10; 2 lb. Fruitcake is $19; Small Turtles are $8 and Large Turtles are $14; Small Layered Mints are $7 and Large Layered Mints are $12; Peanut Clusters are $10; and Peppermint Crunch is $10.

SCHOOL CLOSING ANNOUNCEMENT INFO.
As the weather turns colder, we would like to remind families of our communication channels for closing school. When severe weather necessitates closing school, announcements will be made over radio station WCCO-830 AM and television stations KSTP (channel 5), KARE (channel 11), KMSP (channel 9), and WCCO (channel 4). We should be listed as "Concordia Academy-Bloomington," although it is possible that we may accidentally be listed as "Lutheran High School-Bloomington." (Concordia Academy-Roseville will simply be listed as "Concordia Academy.") As in the past, whenever Bloomington public schools close due to snow or ice, we will also close.

BARNES & NOBLE FUNDRAISER IS DECEMBER 19
Mark your calendars! Once again this year, up to 25% of your purchases at the Galleria Barnes & Noble in Edina can go towards CA-Bloomington. Just shop there on December 19, and turn in the special voucher (available at www.lutheranhighschool.com/lhsevents/bookfair.cfm) when you check out. This is a great chance to take care of Christmas shopping and support CA-Bloomington at the same time. CA-Bloomington library volunteers will also be doing gift wrapping on the 19th, 2:00-10:00 p.m. Questions? Call the school at 952-854-0224.
