Academy-Bloomington Update for October 18, 2006
Vol. 7, No. 9

can attend the Lutheran Education
Conference and an in-service. The school office will be closed on October 19.
-Second quarter starts on Monday, October 23, and first quarter report cards
will be mailed later that week. Please remember that families must be current

CA-BLOOMINGTON TO ADD JUNIOR HIGH
Lynn Henry, Concordia Academy Interim Chief Administrative Officer and principal
of Concordia Academy-Bloomington, has announced plans for CA-Bloomington to
expand from a grades 9-12 school and add grades seven and eight in the
fall of
2007. “A
seventh though twelfth grade Lutheran school will be the first of its kind
in the Twin Cities, offering a Christ-centered and academically
challenging
alternative for families,” she explained. In the past year, CA-Bloomington
has sought input feedback from area association Lutheran grade schools that
have been valuable partners to Concordia
(and, previously, to Lutheran High School). “Our prayer and intent
is that we will maintain our strong partnerships in ministry to children
and youth
here in the Twin Cities. Our K-8 schools are predicated on a ministry model
that will remain the first choice for many families, and we pray that those
schools will continue to be successful with that structure,” added
Henry. CA-Bloomington will continue with the same program of recruitment
events for the high school but will refrain from any direct marketing of
the junior
high
program within existing K-8 Lutheran schools. Plans are for the seventh
and eighth grades to be housed in a separate wing of the school. “CA-Bloomington
is positioned to offer a strong academic program in a variety of areas, including
foreign language
(Spanish), instrumental and
choral music,
and advanced math offerings. Additionally, we anticipate that with the
addition of grades levels, we will be able to provide a wider range of activities
in
athletics, theater, and ministry,” said Henry. Watch for further updates
about this exciting new program in the coming months, and, in the meantime,
start spreading the word!
CLEAN-UP DAY IS OCTOBER 28

a great opportunity to enjoy fellowship with others while sharing time and
talents for the betterment of CA-Bloomington. Please plan to lend a hand!
