PARENT HELP
NEEDED
WITH FALL PLAY
Director Heather Baker is looking for furniture pieces and props that
would appear Civil War era-appropriate for Little Women, the CA-Bloomington
fall
play (November 11-13). Parents interested in helping with set construction
and costuming are also needed. If you can be of help in any of these
areas, please contact Chris Roth (chris.roth@concordiaacademy.com).
CLEAN-UP DAY IS OCTOBER 29
A school clean-up day is scheduled for Saturday, October 29, to help
make sure that the building is in the best-possible condition for our
open house
the
next day. Work begins at 9:00 am and ends at approximately 1:00 pm.
This is a great opportunity to enjoy fellowship with others while sharing
time and
talents for the betterment of CA-Bloomington. Please plan to lend a
hand!
NEWS FROM THE NURSE
Flu season is upon us, so it's time to think about flu shots. There
has been a lot of media coverage about the "bird flu" (or avian flu). For
very good information on this, go on the internet to the Minnesota Department
of Health web site and type in "avian flu" on their search. As with
any flu, good hand-washing is important. –Trudi Woodard RN HSA
COLLEGE PLANNING MEETINGS COMING
-Monday, November 7 and Thursday, November 17 - College Funding (sponsored
by Thrivent Financial) at 7:00 p.m. at CA-Bloomington. This session is offered
on two different dates and focuses on investment strategies, education tax
credits, and loans and savings vehicles.
-Tuesday, November 15 - College Planning, at 7:00 p.m. at CA-Bloomington. Brian
Peterson of Hamline University will share what classes to take while still
in high school, how and when to complete applications, when to make college
visits, what makes students more likely to be accepted at a college and what
schools are looking for, and an overview of what CA will do to help prepare
students for career/college planning. This session is primarily for parents
of 9th and 10th grade students, but all parents are welcome.

CANDY
MAKING DATES SET
The Sweet Delights Candy making starts this month. Four kinds of candy will
be made: Turtles, Layered Mints, Peanut Clusters, and Peppermint Crunch.
The work is easy and the sales proceeds go towards making CA-Bloomington
a better
place for our students. Can you please volunteer to help? Candy will be made
on October 18 and 27 and November 1, 3, 7, and 8 in the school cafeteria
starting at 6:30 p.m. and ending around 9:30 p.m. On Saturday, November 5,
the candy
making will start at 9:00 a.m. and go to noon. Parents and students are welcome.
If you can help, please call Debbie Heggemeier at 952-844-0128 or e-mail
her at debheg@att.net. You can also call Terri Riehm at 952-835-4450.
NEWS FROM PHYL
Back by popular demand ... the "Adopt a Book" program. I will have
on display at Homecoming and then in the library after Homecoming books that
the faculty and staff, students, and I would like to be able to add our library.
If you would like to donate (pay for) a book or part of a book I would be excited
and grateful. Sign the paper in the front of the book if you wish to donate
the complete book or part of the book. When I receive your payment I will then
make a bookplate with your name on it and attach it to the book. Have you helped
your teenage friends to celebrate Teen Read Week? Ask them what has been happening
this week in the library media center. –Phyl Mueller
MOMS IN TOUCH MOMENT
On Wednesday, Moms In Touch spent time in prayer for Concordia Academy-Bloomington
and Concordia Academy-Roseville. We also prayed that our children would be
the best students they can be and "Whatever they do, that they work
at it with all of their heart, as working for the Lord, not for men" (Colossians
3:23). If you have a moment, please pray the same for your student. Any mom
available is welcome to join us on Wednesday mornings to pray at 9:00 a.m.
in the conference room. -Debbie Heggemeier and Moms In Touch International
