CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR HOMECOMING KING AND QUEEN
Congratulations to Jeremy Lindstrom and Mia Anderson who were crowned king and queen at the Homecoming Coronation on Saturday night. (View photos of all the court members at http://ca-bloomington.smugmug.com/gallery/1950646/). Thanks to all the students who participated in coronation events, especially those that were a part of the talent show.

SPECIAL END-OF-QUARTER SCHEDULE REMINDERS
Mark your calendars! First quarter ends on Tuesday, October 17. Wednesday, October 18, is a half-day for testing for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. There is no school on Thursday, October 19, and Friday, October 20, so teachers can attend the Luthean Education Conference and an in-service. Second quarter starts on Monday, October 23.

SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT OUR FALL OPEN HOUSE
The CA-Bloomington fall open house for prospective students and families will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2:00-4:00 p.m. Please starting spreading the word to friends and family members who are looking for the sort of Christ-centered, quality education offered at Concordia. The open house is a great opportunity for families to meet teachers, students, and parents; tour the school; and get answers to questions. If you'd like copies of our open house postcard or poster to distribute, please contact the office.

PRAYER CHAIN INFORMATION
All CA-Bloomington parents and friends are invited to be part of the Prayer Chain. Each week families subscribing to this special email group receive a list of prayer requests that have come from all over the CA-Bloomington community. If you would like to receive the weekly prayer list, please email your name and email address to Vikki Murray at vikki.murray@toro.com. Prayer requests can also be emailed directly to Vikki or to Marilee Schneider (marilee.schneider@concordiaacademy.com) or Lynn Henry (lynn.henry@concordiaacademy.com). Colossians 4:2 -- "Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful."

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: THE CA-BLOOMINGTON BARNES & NOBLE BOOKFAIR IS NOVEMBER 27
Start making your shopping list now! On November 27, up to 25% of purchases made at the Edina Galleria Barnes & Noble will go to CA-Bloomington. Shoppers just need to present their CA-Bloomington voucher at the time of checkout. Further details and copies of the voucher will be available soon, but put the date on your calendar now and start spreading the word about this great fundraiser!

MOMS IN TOUCH NEEDS YOU!
Concordia Academy needs the prayerful support of its families and friends. Our students and staff benefit greatly from knowing that we uphold them in prayer on a regular basis. Will you please join us? Moms in Touch is a national prayer movement that has been part of Lutheran High School and Concordia Academy for several years. Moms meet weekly to lift up the needs of our school, students and staff, asking God's blessings and guidance in all things. Many of the parents who were previously involved with Moms in Touch have had their students graduate, and many current parents may not be aware of this vital ministry. If you would like to join with other concerned parents, please contact Kathy Gunderson at kgunders@earthlink.net or telephone her at 612-729-0142 to learn more about how you can be involved. Meetings will begin in October 2006, but times and dates are in the process of being scheduled. Also, if you have prayer concerns, please bring them to us on a regular basis. We welcome the opportunity to pray for specific needs within our Concordia community. -Kathy Gunderson

"SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY" AWARD APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE
Students who have taken a very active role in community service activities over the past year are encouraged to apply for the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. The Spirit of Community Awards were created to recognize students in middle and high school who have demonstrated exemplary community service. State winners will receive $1000, engraved silver medallions, and an all-expense-paid trip with a parent or guardian to Washington, D.C. in May for several days of recognition events. National Honorees receive additional $5000 awards. Applications are available in the Counseling Office.

IT'S ALMOST TIME FOR THE CANDY MAKING FUNDRAISER
Dates have been set for the Sweet Delights candy making. They are as follows:
Monday, October 16
Tuesday, October 17
Monday, October 23
Thursday, October 26
Saturday, November 4
Monday, October 30
Thursday, November 2
Tuesday, November 14
All times are 6:30-9:30 p.m., except for November 4, which will be 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon.
Candy making is a fabulous time to meet other parents, no previous experience is expected, and minimal skills are required (mostly a warm body and a willing spirit). Dads and students are encouraged to participate, too. Volunteers can come all or part of the evening. I will be calling all families in the school between now and the beginning part of October to see when they are available to help. If anyone is able to help me with calling, I would appreciate it. People are encouraged to call me and let me know when they want to help. My phone number is 952-835-4450. Thanks in advance. -Terri Riehm
