BUZZ BOOKS ARE COMING
Your copy of the 2005 "Buzz Book" (our student and family directory) should arrive in your mailbox early next week.

HOMECOMING CONVERTIBLES NEEDED
Do you or someone you know have a convertible that could be drive by you (or another responsible adult) in our homecoming parade? Court members ride in cars, and we are in need of three more cars. If you can help out, please contact student council advisor Mrs. Kelzer at ext. 302.

HOMECOMING BBQ TICKETS ON SALE
Homecoming BBQ tickets are on sale. They are available from any choir member and are also available at the concessions stand at home games. The meal runs 5:30-7:00 on Friday, October 14 and includes a grilled burger, chips, dessert, and beverage. Tickets are $6 each, and proceeds support the spring choir tour. Plan now to enjoy a great meal and support CA-Bloomington fine arts.

TEST DAY IS OCTOBER 12
Wednesday, October 12, will be our annual test day. This year's test day is during homecoming week; while we do determine what tests we administer, we do not determine the dates. The PSAT (Pre-SAT) is taken by juniors, the PLAN (or Pre-ACT) is taken by sophomores, and freshmen take the EXPLORE (or Pre-PLAN). EXPLORE also includes an interest inventory, which the counseling office uses in the course of student career exploration activities. All students should arrive a bit early and bring #2 pencils with them. Calculators are allowed on all tests. Students will be getting additional information in the coming weeks about the tests. Costs for the tests are covered in registration fees you've already paid. The tests begin PROMPTLY at 8:30 a.m. There is no first hour or late start, and all students should plan to leave the building immediately after testing. Please make arrangements for prompt pick-up. NOTE: Seniors do not report to school on October 12; they are encouraged to use the day to visit colleges. If you have questions, contact Mrs. Kelzer at ext. 302.

COLLEGE PLANNING MEETINGS COMING
-Monday, November 7 and Thursday, November 17 - College Funding (sponsored by Thrivent Financial) at 7:00 p.m. at CA-Bloomington. This session is offered on two different dates and focuses on investment strategies, education tax credits, and loans and savings vehicles.
-Tuesday, November 15 - College Planning, at 7:00 p.m. at CA-Bloomington. Brian Peterson of Hamline University will share what classes to take while still in high school, how and when to complete applications, when to make college visits, what makes students more likely to be accepted at a college and what schools are looking for, and an overview of what CA will do to help prepare students for career/college planning. This session is primarily for parents of 9th and 10th grade students, but all parents are welcome.
-Monday, January 9, 2006 - Financial Aid Meeting at 7:00 p.m. at CA-Bloomington, featuring Brian Heinemann from Concordia University, St. Paul. Bring financial aid questions and FAFSA forms. He will share information on the differences between scholarships, grants, and loans and will offer tips for completing the FAFSA. This is a great session for parents of juniors or seniors.

CANDY MAKING DATES SET
The Sweet Delights Candy making starts in October. Four kinds of candy will be made: Turtles, Layered Mints, Peanut Clusters, and Peppermint Crunch. The work is easy and the sales proceeds go towards making CA-Bloomington a better place for our students. Can you please volunteer to help? Candy will be made on October 18 and 27 and November 1, 3, 7, and 8 in the school cafeteria starting at 6:30 p.m. and ending around 9:30 p.m. On Saturday, November 5, the candy making will start at 9:00 a.m. and go to noon. Parents and students are welcome. If you can help, please call Debbie Heggemeier at 952-844-0128 or e-mail her at debheg@att.net. You can also call Terri Riehm at 952-835-4450.

HAPPENINGS BOOKS AVAILABLE
Happenings Books are still available in the office for $30. Families that purchase or sell five books get one book free. Proceeds go to support Debby, the Compassion International child sponsored by CA-Bloomington.

MOMS IN TOUCH MOMENT
This past Wednesday, Moms in Touch spent time in prayer for our students, staff, and school. We prayed that our students would "listen to their father's instruction and not forsake their mother's teaching" (Proverbs 1:8). We also prayed for a loving relationship between our children and their heavenly Father. If you have a moment, you might pray the same for your child. Any mom available is welcome to join Moms in Touch on Wednesday mornings to pray at 9:00 a.m. in the conference room. –Debbie Heggemeier and Moms In Touch

NEWS FROM PHYL
We are going to try a new cell phone recycling company: EcoPhones. The new benefits of this company are that they provide a tax-deductible donation acknowledgement form AND that they accept ALL cell phone batteries. This company requires that we make shipments of 35 cell phones instead of the normal 25. Please help us collect phones. Thanks. –Phyl Mueller
