Concordia Academy-Bloomington Update for September 8, 2006
Vol. 7, No. 3

BOOSTER CLUB ACTIVITY DAY IS TOMORROW
Booster Club is scheduling another Activity Day on Saturday September 9, 8:30 a.m. - noon. Work to be done includes the following: finish the bleacher project/rocking around concession stand, clean and seal tile in front entrance to gym & restrooms, edge sidewalks in front and back of building (including the gym section), trim bushes in front, tear down and move old press box, cut up branches for post-football game bonfires, and do general sprucing up for Concordia Connection and Ice Cream Social and the Fall Open House. Booster club needs as many people as possible to help, so they can have "teams" to do the projects with a leader to direct each group. Even if you can only donate one or two hours and not the whole time, Booster Club can still can use your talents and abilities. Thanks in advance for your help!

CONCORDIA CONNECTION AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL IS SEPTEMBER 17
On Sunday, September 17, 2006, Concordia Academy will host The Second Annual Concordia Connection, the symbolic run marking the shared educational ministry of Concordia Academy-Roseville and Concordia Academy-Bloomington. Consider being a part of this fun event in any of the following ways:
-RUN
Participants can choose to run a three or four-mile leg of the distance or may choose to complete the entire route which is under 20 miles. Brian Melendez (LHS '86), teacher at Concordia Academy-Bloomington, and Elizabeth Bohren, teacher at Concordia Academy-Roseville, will lead runners from Roseville to Bloomington starting at 11:00 a.m. There are four stations along the way where runners can start or end. For those wanting to complete a shorter distance, there will be a one-mile run at the end of the event. Those participants will run from Portland Avenue and American Blvd. to the school in Bloomington. Runners receive a free Concordia Connection t-shirt. If you would like to run, please contact Shelley Novotny (952-854-0224, ext. 111, or shelley.novotny@concordiaacademy.com).
-PLEDGE RUNNERS
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has generously designated $7000 of matching funds for this event. If you would like to make a gift to the Concordia Academy Bloomington’s Lancer Legacy Fund by pledging a runner, please contact Shelley Novotny at 651-484-8429 or shelley.novotny@concordiaacademy.com. Brian Melendez, Todd Bentz, and Director of Communications Shelley Novotny are a few of the CA-Bloomington folks who will be running. Director of Admissions and art teacher Chris Roth asks that you pledge him so he does not have to run! Pledge forms are available in the front office or can be downloaded at www.lutheranhighschool.com/downloads/ConcordiaConnPledgeForm.pdf.
-EAT ICE CREAM WITH FRIENDS AT CA-BLOOMINGTON
From 1:00-3:00 p.m., CA-Bloomington’s Booster Club will sponsor an ice cream social with ice cream from Schwann’s. Don’t worry...you don’t have to run to enjoy ice cream and fellowship! All students, association church members, families and friends are invited to attend. A freewill offering will be taken, with proceeds going towards a concessions counter in the new gym. Enjoy music by CA-Bloomington students and Sawtooth, a bluegrass band featuring CA-Bloomington student Shane Birtzer and his family. Plan to join in the fun, food, and fellowship.

CONVERTIBLES NEEDED
Student council is in need of five convertibles for court members to ride in during the Homecoming parade on October 6. If you can help, please contact student council advisor Grace Kelzer (ext. 302 or grace.kelzer@concordiaacademy.com).

HAPPENINGS BOOKS AVAILABLE
Happenings coupon books are available for $30 from the front office. They include thousands of dollars of discounts and special offers. Profits from the sales go to support Debby, our Compassion International child. Students can earn a free book if they sell 5 books. Questions? Contact Marilee Schneider.

SPORTS SEASON PASSES AVAILABLE
Sports passes (valid for home games all year) are now available. Prices are $85 for a pass for an individual or $160 for a family pass. A ten-event punch card is available for $45. Regular game admissions are $5 for adults and $3 for students. CA-Bloomington students are admitted at no charge. You can purchase your pass at any home game or contact Dan Maser, athletic director. Sports passes are a fantastic deal and a great way to show your Lancer support. (Note: According to MSHSL guidelines, the passes are not valid at playoff or tournament games.)
