Concordia
Academy-Bloomington Update for April 21, 2006
Vol. 6, No. 32
MID-QUARTER
IS NEXT WEEK
Mid-quarter grades will be given to students during advisory meetings on Tuesday,
April 25, and students will also receive detailed progress reports in all classes.
Mid-quarter grades will be mailed to parents later in the week. Please watch
for them!
SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE IS NEXT WEEKEND!
A pop culture phenomenon comes to the CA-Bloomington stage April 28-30 in Schoolhouse
Rock Live! This musical is based on the Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning
cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math, science, and politics through
clever, tuneful songs like “Unpack Your Adjectives,” "Conjunction
Junction," "Just A Bill," "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly," and “Interplanet
Janet.” The show is directed by Sara Kampf Neel and Robin Martens. Children
just discovering the TV series to “Generation X-ers” seeking
a taste of nostalgia will delight in this all-ages musical that’s simply
good, clean—and educational—fun. Performances are at 7:30 p.m.
on April 28 and 29 and 2:30 p.m. on April 30. Tickets are $8.00 for adults
and
$5.00 for students and senior citizens. CA-Bloomington students are admitted
at no charge. Reservations can be made online by going to http://www.lutheranhighschool.com/lhsevents/schoolhouserock.cfm.
You may also call the school office at
952-854-0224.
EAT AT
DAVANNI'S...SUPPORT THE SENIOR PARTY
The senior class party committee is sponsoring a fundraiser for the senior class
party after graduation. On April 25th, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Davanni's
on 86th and Lyndale will donate 20% of the sales that are accompanied with our
flyer. You may download the flier at www.lutheranhighschool.com/downloads/DavanniFundraiser0406.pdf or

FORK LIFT,
PALLET JACK, TABLES, VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR "FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN" EVENT
AT CA-BLOOMINGTON
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is sponsoring a Feed My Starving Children
Meal Blitz at three locations on May 6. Concordia Academy-Roseville and Concordia
Academy-Bloomington are two of the sites. We have reserved spots for CA-Bloomington
community members to volunteer at the
10-Noon slot at our location. If you would like to volunteer, a sign-up sheet
is on the bulletin board in the main hallway at school. Additional volunteers
are needed to work from 7:30-Noon, Noon-4:30 and 4:30-8:30 on May 6. You would
serve as greeters, help with sign-in, and assist with clean-up. If you are
able to help as we welcome 800 volunteers into Concordia Academy-Blooomington,
please contact Shelley Novotny at shelley.novotny@concordiaacademy.com or
651-484-8429, ext. 108. A few more items are needed to get ready for the event.
Let us know if you have a forklift or a pallet jack we can use to move the
2,000 lb. crates
of food supplies. We also need 44 six-foot tables to set up the work stations.
TIME'S
RUNNING OUT FOR YEARBOOK STUDENT
SALUTES
It's time to purchase "Student Salutes" for your student.
These ads run in the back of the yearbook and are a great chance
for parents, relatives,
and friends to honor a CA-Bloomington student with a photo and brief
message. While the ads are typically placed for seniors, they may be
placed for
students at any grade level. Ads cost $40. Information was sent with
third quarter
grades. You can also download a form at http://www.lutheranhighschool.com/downloads/StudentSalute2006.pdf.

MOMS IN TOUCH MOMENT
Moms in Touch is continuing
to pray about the fruits of the Spirit. This week we prayed about patience.
One of the verses we meditated on was Colossians
3:12 and 13. "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved,
clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one
another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." For our children we prayed
that the Holy Spirit penetrate our children's hearts so that their faith
becomes their own and is deeply rooted in you. If you have a moment, you
might pray
the same for your child. -Debbie Heggemeier and Moms in Touch International
