Concordia
Academy-Bloomington Update for March 30, 2007
Vol. 7, No. 30
EASTER
BREAK IS HERE
Spring Break is here! There is no school April 2-9; school resumes on April
10. The school office will be open limited hours on April 2, 3, and 4 and
open until noon on April 5. The office will be closed April 6, and 9.
There will be no regular edition of the weekly email next week. Our prayer
is that
your
family
is
blessed
with a reflective Holy Week and joyous celebration of the Resurrection
at Easter.

SPRING
FLING IS ALMOST HERE!
Looking for fantastic gifts, great music, fellowship, food, and plenty of fun?
Then get ready..."Fabulous
Fifties," the
2007 Spring Fling, is only several weeks away. It's not too late to
RSVP,
volunteer,
or
donate!
Our goal
is
to have
all school families
involved in one or more of the following ways:
Donations: You can still deliver auction donations to school
if you have not already done so. Please drop them off with Marilee in the
office. Over Easter break, please call the office before dropping off your
item to be sure the school is open. For the live auction, we are
looking for a few more unique items. Consider donating your cabin for a week,
Twins
or Vikings tickets, or specialty services. If you can donate any
of these specialty items, contact Shelley Novotny at 952-854-0224, ext. 111,
or shelley.novotny@concordiaacademy.com .
Volunteers: Our greatest need for volunteers is set-up from
10-2:00 on April 14. Contact Shelley Novotny if
you are able to help with set-up.
Attending the Event: Please return your Spring Fling response
card soon to be sure to get in on all of the Fabulous Fifties fun! Special
entertainment includes the Cruisers, a local 50s band, and a performance by
our own CA-Bloomington Madrigals. Don't forget the fun on the silent and live
auctions including the ever-popular Faculty Chefs Package which includes Chicago
style deep-dish pizza made by our own Mr. Melendez and New England Clam Chowder
made by Mr Bentz from his secret family recipe. You'll have a great time with
dinner, fellowship, unique games, and bidding on hundreds of items in live
and silent auctions!
Through
Thrivent Financial's Care in Regions and Care in Communities programs, Concordia
Academy-Bloomington's
Spring Fling has already raised 10,000 for CA-Bloomington academic programs,
including financial aid for CA-Bloomington students. We are challenging all
CA-Bloomington families to get involved in this great event. Our
goal to raise $50,000. Whether
you make a donation, volunteer, attend, or do all three, we need your help
to make
The Spring Fling a great success.
VOLUNTEERS
NEEDED TO PREPARE MAILING
Volunteers are needed to help label and prepare a postcard mailing on campus
on Tuesday, April 10, starting at 9:00 a.m. If you can help, please contact Marilee
Schneider in the front office.
NOTE
APRIL CALENDAR CHANGES
On April 20, school will be dismissed at noon to accommodate a special afternoon
elementary school matinee performance of "High School Musical." The
following Monday, April 23, will also be a half-day. The morning will be
devoted to
a student council-sponsored service project; students will visit area nursing
homes. School will be then be dismissed at noon.
REGIONAL COLLEGE
FAIR ON APRIL 18
A regional spring college fair will be sponsored by Normandale Community College
on Wednesday, April 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00
p.m. for all high school students. Approximately 120 representatives from public
and
private
universities
and colleges, technical colleges, trade and career schools, and the military
will be in attendance. This is much like the National College Fair juniors
and seniors attended last fall, but on a smaller scale. Please take advantage
of this opportunity to visit with many colleges under one roof! Seniors should
be narrowing choices and finalizing applications, completing financial aid
forms like the FAFSA and scholarship applications, and making final decisions.
Juniors can use this as another chance to get information before setting up
on-campus visits. Contact Mrs. Kelzer if you have questions!
SALUTE YOUR STUDENT IN THE YEARBOOK
Information regarding yearbook Student Salute ads is being sent home with third
quarter grades. These ads give family members and friends a chance to
include a special photo and surprise message for their special student(s)
in the
2007 yearbook. These ads cost $40. In addition, seniors received information
about their "Senior Blocks" this week. Purchasing a senior
block for $40 gives
them the chance to have a quarter of a page in the senior section with
color photos and text of their choice. Senior Blocks were due March 28.
Students who have not turned them in yet need to do so by April 11. Student
Salutes
are due May 4. For more information, contact Chris Roth (ext. 311 or
chris.roth@concordiaacademy.com).
