Concordia Academy-Bloomington Update for March 24, 2006
Vol. 6, No. 29

FOURTH QUARTER STARTS
Third quarter grades should have arrived in your mail. If you have any questions about those grades, don't hesitate to contact the appropriate teacher(s).

SERVANT EVENT, PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES ARE ARPIL 6
April 6 is a morning-only schedule. Students will travel to several area nursing homes in the morning for a school-wide servant event, coordinated by student council. There will be no school in the afternoon to allow for Parent/Teacher Conferences, running 1:00-8:00 p.m. You may sign-up for 12-minute slots with teachers by calling Marilee Schneider in the front office (952-854-0224).

PFA SALAD LUNCHEON, QUILT AUCTION, AND STYLE SHOW IS APRIL 1; EASTER BASKET DONATIONS NEEDED
"Easter Parade," the annual PFA Salad Luncheon, Quilt Auction, and Style Show, will be held Saturday, April 1, 2006. With the seasonal "Easter Parade" theme, we are asking for donations of Easter baskets or items for baskets that will be used as centerpieces during the event and be available for purchase. Your basket may be traditional, or it could be filled with painted Easter eggs, a spring plant, or something else creative. People can bid on donated Easter baskets to take home. Do you have a basket or basket items to donate? Is so, please email freshman parent Colleen Larson at colleen1@veepvolunteers.org or phone her at 651-405-8788 during the next week. All proceeds will go to projects supported by the PFA.

SENIOR PARENT MEETING ON APRIL 3
On April 3 at 7 p.m., senior parents will meet to put the finishing touches on the senior party. It is important for all to attend, so everyone is aware of the plan for the evening. If you have any questions please contact John Venzke or Vicki Dice.

CALENDAR CHANGE
The original calendar for 2005-06 showed Monday, May 8 as a day of no school for teacher inservice. Since then, the grade school track meet has been scheduled for Friday, May 12, and we will have no school on that day instead. Monday, May 8, will be a regular school day, not a day off. Please check and adjust your calendars!

"FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN" PARTNERS WITH THRIVENT AT BOTH CA CAMPUSES IN MAY
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is donating $50,000 to Feed My Starving Children to sponsor a volunteer event which will involve 1,800 volunteers packing meals at three different locations on May 6, 2006. Both the Bloomington and Roseville campuses will be host sites. Soon, volunteers will have an opportunity to sign up for this event. In preparation, Thrivent is looking to have a committee for our site made up of people from local Thrivent Chapters, local Lutheran congregations, and several students and parents. If you are interested in serving on the committee for the Bloomington site, please contact Shelly Novotny, Director of Communications, at shelley.novotny@concordiaacademy.com or 651-484-8429, ext. 108.

PARENT HELP NEEDED WITH SPRING MUSICAL SET CONSTRUCTION
Several parents are needed to help with set construction for the spring musical, "Schoolhouse Rock Live!" A number of large, oversize prop cut-outs need to be created, so help is especially needed from people comfortable and skilled with a jigsaw. If you can help, please contact Chris Roth (chris.roth@lutheranhighschool.com or ext. 311).

BLOOD DRIVE COMING IN APRIL
Donors are needed for the Blood Drive at CA-Bloomington on April 5, Wednesday, 7:30-10:30 a.m. Any parents who are able to give that day would be greatly appreciated. Students must be at least 17 years old to give, be in good health, and eat breakfast that morning. You must be signed up in advance. If plans change, it is okay to call and cancel that day. Our goal is 30 donors. Thanks for your help!

OPEN HOUSE IS APRIL 3
An open house for prospective students and families will be held on April 3 at 7:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity for people who were unable to attend the fall or winter open house to learn more about at CA-Bloomington. Please help spread the word!

SENIOR SHIRT RE-ORDERS AVAILABLE
Seniors who did not order a senior shirt earlier this year may re-order them for $15 each. Orders must be turned in to Mr. Roth by Tuesday, March 28.

MOMS IN TOUCH MOMENT
Our Moms in Touch group has started praying about the Fruits of the Spirit. This week we prayed about love. We prayed about loving God with all our heart, soul, and strength and loving our neighbors as ourselves. We prayed that our children may know "how wide and long and high and deep the love of Christ is, and know this love that surpasses knowledge." (Ephesians 3:18, 19) If you have a moment, you might pray the same for your child. -Debbie Heggemeier and Moms in Touch International
