Concordia Academy-Bloomington Update for January 26, 2007
Vol. 7, No. 21

THIS WEEKEND: OPEN HOUSE-JAN. 28; CLEAN-UP DAY-JAN. 27
A school clean-up day is scheduled for THIS SATURDAY, January 27, to help make sure that the building is in the best-possible condition for our open house the next day. Work begins at 9:00 am and ends at approximately 1:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to enjoy fellowship with others while sharing time and talents for the betterment of CA-Bloomington. Please plan to lend a hand! The winter open house for prospective students and families is THIS SUNDAY, January 28, 2:00-4:00 p.m. Please spread the word to friends and family members who are looking for Christ-centered, quality education for 7th-12th graders. Postcards promoting the open house are available in the front office.

ASSOCIATION BASKEBTALL NIGHTS ARE FEB. 2 AND 8
Members of CA-Bloomington association churches and students and staff at association schools are invited to be our guests and come cheer on the Lancers at home basketball games on February 2 and 8. In addition to free admission, association members and students will receive free snacks and be eligible for door prizes. On February 2, the Lancer men take on Trinity River Ridge with games at 4:30, 6:00, and 7:30. On February 8, the Lady Lancers battle Providence Academy at 7:00 (note the time change). Watch some basketball, eat some food, enjoy some fellowship, and cheer on the Lancers!

SPRING DRAMA AUDITIONS ARE NEXT WEEK
Auditions for the spring musical, High School Musical, will be held Wednesday and Thursday, January 31 and February 1. High School Musical is the new stage production of the Disney Channel's smash hit movie musical. CA-Bloomington will be one of the first high schools in Minnesota to produce this show. There are many parts of all sizes available. No prior drama experience is necessary to audition. Auditions for Faces of Grace, CA-Bloomington's drama ministry team, will be held at the same time as High School Musical auditions. Audition packets and sign-up sheets for both the musical and Faces of Grace will be available on Monday, January 29. Questions? Contact Chris Roth.

CONGRATULATIONS TO SNO DAZE COURT; CORONATION AND TALENT SHOW IS FEB. 3
Congratulations to members of the 2007 Sno Daze Court: Jessica Packard and Mitchell Cherney, freshmen attendants; Taylor Lohman and Casey Chinn, sophomore attendants; Sara Scheussler and Andrew Lerum, junior attendants; Jackie Dammel, Jennifer Freitag, Kelsey Judge, Becki Schmeckpeper, Ashley Schwichtenberg, and Katie Wong, senior court. The queen will be crowned at the Sno Daze Coronation and Talent Show next Saturday, February 3, at 7:00 p.m. Please join us for an evening of fun and festivities.

CELL PHONES
Parents and students are reminded that cell phones and all other electronic devices are not to be used here at school during the day. According to our handbook policy, teachers or administrators may confiscate phones in use, including ringing or texting. Our normal procedure is for parents to make arrangements to pick up the phone personally from the office. Thanks in advance for encouraging your CA student to power down and store their cell phones during the day.

SPORTS PHOTOS ARE JAN. 31
Winter sports will have individual and team photos taken after school on Wednesday, January 31. The schedule is as follows: varsity boys' basketball at 3:15, JV boys' basketball at 3:30, freshmen boys' basketball at 3:45, cheerleaders at 4:00, and girls basketball at 4:20. Order forms with payment should be given directly to the photographer on Wednesday.

RE-ENROLLMENT INFORMATION IS COMING
Re-enrollment packets for 2007-2008 will be mailed to homes in the next week. Please watch for them, and look through them carefully. We look forward to continuing to partner with you in the education of your student!

JUNIOR HIGH UPDATE
Since announcing plans to add grades 7 and 8 next year at CA-Bloomington, we've been encouraged by numerous inquiries and the applications we have received. Over the next month, final plans will be developed and announced. We believe that this exciting new program will provide a unique educational option for Twin Cities families and will strengthen Lutheran Christian education in the Twin Cities. Information sessions will again be offered during the January 28 open house for families seeking additional information about the junior high. In addition, brochures and applications are available in the front office. Thank you for helping to spread the word to area families about this important expansion of the ministry of Concordia Academy.
