Dear Friends of Concordia Academy-Bloomington,
Many of you know that the Concordia Academy Executive Council has
reached the very difficult decision to close CA-Bloomington after
the 2008-09
school year. For the last six months the Council wrestled with the
combination of increased operating expenses, falling enrollment,
and, more recently, the overall economic outlook. Facing these
very significant
challenges, the Council felt it had the fiduciary and stewardship
responsibility to make this decision sooner rather than later
so we could do everything
possible to help students and staff make a smooth transition to the
next academic year.
For the remainder of 2008-09 we are going to work to support our
staff in making this the best possible year for our students and
staff. We
will continue our regular fund-raising efforts to support the annual
operating budget. Projects by Boosters and PFA are an important part
of our fund-raising, and we sincerely want those to continue this year.
The pledges that individuals make to the annual fund and to last spring’s
campaign are still important as we take care of our obligations to
our faculty and staff and to the daily needs of running the school.
Sometimes the path of life is not the one we would have chosen or prayed
for. One thing is certain: God is faithful and will continue to lead
us. Continue to keep the school, its faculty and staff, and the students
in your prayers in the coming weeks and months.

Of course, a school is more than just a building. A school is built
on relationships – among students, between teachers or staff and students,
within the parents that share so much with each other and their children,
and between alumni, supporters and the school. A school is a community.
And when that school is built around the foundation of the Gospel of
Jesus Christ, it is forever a community of believers. We thank you for
your many years of support of Lutheran High and CA-Bloomington. This
community is second to none in its love for Christ and dedication to
Christ’s ministry in our Lutheran schools.
Hebrews 10:23 says, “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess,
for He who promised is faithful.” The work begun at Lutheran
High School and Concordia Academy-Bloomington will continue to bear
fruit
for the Kingdom. To God be the glory for His faithfulness.
In His Service,
Lynn Henry
Chief Administrative Officer
Concordia Academy Association of Schools
